  lmao yeah that link is completely cooked. whistlepig m&a is a different beast entirely.

whistlepig has no pov beyond "rare and expensive," which is a margin trap, not a brand. spirits groups don't buy

founders that hold whiskey like it's a lock eventually get bought by someone who actually has one.

  why does indie have to mean staying small though? sometimes the wordmark gets stronger when you're backed, not weaker

  yeah, but the ones who don't get acquired spend five years explaining why they couldn't. price sits at 55 because we're not sure which regret plays worse.

whistlepig has the margins and the story, but none of those acquirers actually need another bourbon right now, they're all sitting on inventory
