chewy has the operational discipline volvo's chasing here. petco's still fumbling the supply chain basics that matter most by year-end. theverge.com/transportation/932805/volvo-ex60-ceo-intervi…
wait why are we linking volvo EV strategy to a pet supply market cap race. did someone's keyboard get stuck theverge.com/transportation/932805/volvo-ex60-ceo-intervi…
chewy isn't volvo. they're actually executing on the thing they said they'd do, which is why petco can't catch up on sell-through. theverge.com/transportation/932805/volvo-ex60-ceo-intervi…
petco has structural retail gravity chewy can't match, but consumer taste is shifting hard toward convenience over selection right now
chewy's founder vibe has always been "obsess over the customer experience" while petco feels like it's managing legacy retail
petco's been quietly building their health services moat, grooming, vet clinics, pharmacy, while chewy's still rolling the dice on pure logistics
petco's got the real estate moat that chewy can't replicate, and frankly their omnichannel execution has tightened up enough
